10 of my favorite things I did in Tokyo

February 16, 2018 By Noelle 67 Comments

I’ve wanted to share some of my favorite things I got to do while in Tokyo and I am finally getting around to it! I’ve gotten asks for lots of tips, so instead of giving tips I’ve decided to put together my favorite things I did while there, with some photos that didn’t get get published on my Instagram page and some that did! Tokyo was truly an AMAZING trip with so many unique experiences. I can’t wait to go back and explore more of Japan one day!

  1. Riding the Swan Boats

This has been on my bucket list forever! I swear I was like so giddy going up to ride the swan boats! The park you can do this in is Ueno Park and you’ll spot the swans pretty quickly and know where to go! It’s a really pretty park and is a lovely place to ride the swans and then have a picnic!

2. Getting a Totti Candy Factory cotton candy!

Anther bucket list things I’ve been dying to do for ages! Just so you know there are lots of cotton candy places similar to this in Harajuku, but if you want it for a photo this is the best place because the colors are the brightest! It was seriously yummy!

3. Shopping in Harajuku

This is something I BY FAR got the most questions about! So the main street I loved shopping on was Takeshita street, it’s super busy and crazy, but it to me and my style, was the best place for shopping! There was a place called Pink Latte, and a store that carried a label I love Rivet and Surge! If you just pop into most of the stores here you will easily tell if you’re into the vibe or not. I swear I wish I could shop here every single day! It’s also where I got my rabbit ears beanie I’m wearing below.

4. Taking the Tokyo Subway system

This experience was just so organized and the Tokyo subway system is so clean it’s insane. It’s truly just a cool experience taking their subway system and I think it’s also a great place to snag some photos, especially at night when the sun might already be gone outside!

5. Getting drinks out of the soda machines

WHERE DO I EVEN BEGIN ON THIS! You can get a warm beverage from the Japanese vending machines! How cool is that!!? I honestly just also loved getting drinks I couldn’t read and trying them! It might sound silly, but it was a really cool experience!

6. Finding so many cute Totoro things!

I swear the amount of Totoro things I could find in Harajuku was insane and made me so happy! I got this plush that’s actually a backpack and I used so much of the trip! I also got some key chains, bath towels, and an adorable pin!

7. Getting this crazy custom ice cream cone at Eddy’s Ice Cream

I still dream about this ice cream cone it was so good! Expect a line because there’s only one girl making these cones, but the wait is worth it! The inside of the place is super cute, but there’s typically SO many people that we went outside to get a cute pic. 10/10 would visit again though!

8. Conveyer belt sushi

This was something high up on Danny’s list of things to do and it was a super fun and cool experience. We being tourists were so confused on how it worked and I’m still not sure.. there were pieces going around, but it also seemed like people weren’t grabbing them! Honestly being a little bit confused and taking in our surroundings was a big part of the fun for me.

8. Visiting a Hedgehog Cafe

This was also something I had wanted to go for a while! The line was MAJOR, but it was so cute to see these little guys. I’m someone who really struggles with making sure animals are taken care of and while the people there did seem to love the animals, I still feel on the fence about this.. I was trying to do more research afterwards because going into it I had no idea what to expect or what the deal was. But feeding them dried mealy worms was really adorable.

10. Seeing the cutest foot ever in Tokyo!

I looooved seeing just how creative and adorable the food is in Tokyo! It’s just so fun to see the cute latte art, pancake art, crepe art, I mean you name it and they have figured out a way to make it just so adorable!

I hope you guys enjoyed this list of 10 things I enjoyed in Tokyo! Let me know in the comments if you have any questions!

My very first Mother’s Day as your mom my sweet My very first Mother’s Day as your mom my sweet Evergreen 🤍 you’ve changed my life forever & being your mom is always going to be the thing I am most proud of in my life 🤍 I remember right after she was born (this first photo) she was crying & I just kept saying “it’s okay baby, it’s okay” and I can’t even explain how surreal it was to be holding my baby in my arms. It’s hard for me sometimes to not feel like I’m counting down the Mother’s days my mom had with me.. thinking I only have 6 more. It reminds me constantly to be more present and make allllll the memories & don’t hold back. Being a mom is one of the hardest things I’ve ever done & also one of the absolute best, beautiful, meaningful things I’ve ever done. 🤍

A little love letter to this @sezane floral shirt A little love letter to this @sezane floral shirt of my dreams 💕🌷 this weekend is my first Mother’s Day and it has me thinking a lot about being a mom and weird little details. I used to think when you loved someone it meant you had every part of them memorized- you could pick out their hand in a line up or their lips. But with Ever I’ve realized it’s not like that- every single day she’s growing and every single day she wakes up a little bit different. It may sound silly but it’s been on my heart lately about how weirdly this feels like such an emotional part of motherhood that seems so simple but is something I never really thought about. #sezanelovers #sezanepartner
Motherhood is often seen as the ultimate balancing Motherhood is often seen as the ultimate balancing act - managing a career, maintaining a home, and raising children. But what if saying “no” could actually be empowering and give mothers the chance to say “yes”? #pureleafpartner 💕

That’s where the “No” Grants partnership with @pureleaf comes in. This program is designed to provide a little extra financial support to mothers who want to say “no” to the pressures and expectations that come with motherhood and “yes” to simplicity. With the “No” Grants partnership, Pure Leaf is empowering mothers to say “no” to doing it all and “yes” to simplifying life.
