I’m no skin guru, but I can share what I do know with you…
I used to have bad acne. Looking back at photos even from when I first started my blog, it blows my mind. I remember being sad about it often, but I sometimes forget how bad it was. I feel so lucky to have my skin much more cleared up now! It all started with my friend Hillary at a little skincare/beauty store called MioMia in Williamsburg,Brooklyn. See, she does facials there, and not the kind where they just put some nice stuff on your face and give you a little message. She gives you the REAL kind of facial where she gets all of the gross gunk out of you face (very professionally and cleanly), uses a machine to zap bacteria that’s under your skin, and you get to feel more peaceful at the end and leave with your face feeling like it got a detox. It’s really the most beneficial facial I have ever gotten in my life. Don’t get me wrong, the ‘nice’ kind can be great for a relaxing day,but when it comes to having acne and needing help, this is the kind of facial you need.
The first time I saw her I bought my first Mario Badescu products right after the facial. The first products I got was the cucumber lotion and buffering lotion. From there, my collection of facial products from this line really grew because I could tell the difference and TRUST ME, I had used so many different things and none of them helped me.
So, here’s my breakdown of my daily routine: morning and night.
2. Facial Spray with Rosewater (totally not fulllly necessary, but I love this product because it makes my skin soft)
5. Cellufirm Drops (anti-ageing!)
6. Drying Lotion (to put on any acne that comes up!)
So this is the softest face wash ever! I use it everyday to was my face, night and day. Sometimes, if I feel my face needs some extra exfoliation, I will mix in some of something more griddier.. which might be something from Lush or just from the drug store, depending on what I have and how much makeup I have been wearing lately! I would say I exfoliate every two or three days.
So in the morning I of course as said, first wash my face. Then I use the cucumber lotion and put some on a paper towel or cotton ball, depending on what I have (see photo below.) Next, after putting a thin layer of that all over my face, I put a thin layer of moisturizer all over my face. Last, (and as said this isn’t really necessary, but I love the rosewater spray because it smells and feels amazing, but also because I think it makes my makeup foundation go on more smoothly because of the extra moisture) I spray three sprays of the herb and rosewater spray all over my face. It’s the most peaceful part of my whole morning routine!
At night, I again wash my face. Once it’s all cleaned and I don’t have any more makeup on my face, I will use the cellufirm drops under my eyes and on my forehead. I started freaking out a few months ago because I am starting to see the wrinkles and now am glad I at least have a small amount of anti-ageing in my skin routine. I will be adding another step in the future most likely, even if it may sound silly! Once I have done that, I will do one of two things: I will use the buffering lotion on acne that looks more minor. Like tiny stuff. On the bigger pimples or something like that (whiteheads), I will use the drying lotion. Don’t shake the bottle! You have to dip a q-tip down to the bottom so that it gets down to where the pink liquid is and just put a dot of it on the acne. Don’t rub it in! The drying lotion is really strong, so I try to use it as sparingly as possible and really on the tough stuff. The buffering lotion is honestly what I use more of because it’s good for just the regular blemishes.
Lastly, the masks I may use once or twice a week if needed! One if the Healing and Soothing mask and the other is the Drying mask. The drying mask is really great for if you are having some bad acne that week and just need to kick it in the butt. The healing and soothing mask for me is one I use more regularly because it just makes my skin feel fresh and in good shape!
Annnnnd that is my skincare routine! Again, as said, I am no master and am just your average girl showing products that I personally love. All of the products feel like lifesavers to me (or skinsavers?! haha) and if you are having trouble with your acne, I certainly recommend trying this routine! Also, keep in mind that I had to stick with this for about two months to see the results. I also started not letting my self fall asleep with my make up on EVER (that’s a no-no) and I sleep with my hair pulled back so the oils aren’t all over my face from my hair products.
Let me know your thoughts on this post and if you have used Mario Badescu products before!
Love,
Noelle
