Read why this made-in-NOLA dress is so special to me…
This dress is so perfect for multiple reasons. It’s a mini dress (my favorite), a great fit, has a beautiful silk flamingo print on the collar, and was made in my home state. It’s by Hazel and Florange and a friend of mine Andi is the owner and designer. They have so many special fits that you can tell are very vintage inspired! Plus their store in New Orleans also sells lots of vintage.
This dress also has another special thing about it for me. My mother, who passed away of cancer when I was 7, was obsessed with flamingos. I’ve never really been sure why (she did love the color pink) but we use to have a whole bathroom COVERED in flamingos. That sounds crazy,but looking back it was actually kind of awesome. My mom was also an artists and would paint flamingos a lot of the time. So flamingos will always remind me of her and make me happy.
I paired the dress with some simple other vintage inspired accessories like my Warby Parker x Leith Clark classes and Forever 21 loafers. I also borrowed my boyfriends book because I thought it made a nice prop, hah.
Now I am off to get some brunch!
